I spent the majority of my adult life feeling lost and stuck.
After graduating college and landing a corporate job, I knew almost right away that I was on the wrong path. At the time I was working in advertising sales, and I knew it was not the career path for me, and neither were the constraints of Corporate America.
But I had no idea what this meant, and that made me feel terrified because I knew I couldn’t spend my whole life aimlessly drifting. I had no idea what my life purpose was, didn’t have a clue what I was passionate about that could translate to a job and if you had asked me what my life values were I would have looked at you like a dear in headlights.
My Clarity Journey
Mental health and personal growth were not concepts I was familiar with when all of this confusion set in, but I think a part of me intuitively knew that I’d be able to find personal growth through clarity. I kept thinking ‘there has got to be more to life than this,’ and someone stumbled on Oprah’s TV show Super Soul Sunday. I remembered my mom watching Oprah when I was growing up but honestly have no idea what drew me to actually watching this show as I was so unfamiliar with what she was talking about.
It was a breakthrough moment in life to tune in and learn about these concepts of personal growth and spirituality, and things really took a turn for the better when I read the book You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay (a book that I am currently looking at and reference in session on a regular basis). This was my first step of going from stuck to clear, which was followed by yoga, reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, therapy to heal recent traumas of being robbed and my grandfather passing away, and then my favorite, life coaching!
Overcoming Confusion In Life
Life transformation stories are like fairy tales in that they have happy endings! And happy middles! The more I went down the path of following my curiosity about healing, personal growth and getting to know myself, the more I felt a massive clarity mindset shift.
Doors started opening that lead me directly to my life purpose. I felt excited for the future, and the present! I got clear on who I really am and what I really want. I easily identified my values (no more deer in headlights!) which are fun, freedom and security. Suddenly I felt like I was living my life in the way God intended me to living it, and I was living out my life purpose!
Finding Clarity and Purpose
Clarity and confidence in life go hand in hand and ultimately lead you to your purpose. I experienced this first hand doing something I now coach my clients on that seems so simple yet so complex at the same time – I followed the sparks.
The sparks of curiosity, joy and generally the little sparks that lit me up inside. Often times these things didn’t make logical sense. In fact in the past I would have talked myself out of following them, but the more I leaned in to my authentic self, the more I knew the sparks were Godwinks that were lighting my path forward.
How To Gain Mental Clarity
If you’re feeling uncertain about your life purpose, who you really are at your core (underneath things like trauma, limiting beliefs and the expectations of others), what you REALLY want (not just what you were told to want) and what you values are, I want you to know I have been where you are and can help you get where you want to go.
Self-discovery through coaching is the fastest, easiest and most fun way to start enjoying the benefits of mental clarity. I really wish I had known about Life Coaching back in my early 20s when I was feeling so lost. If I had, I think it would have cut my 15 year exploration journey down by a lot!
