If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking,
“There has to be more to life than this…”
I know exactly how you feel. Long before I became a Dallas Life Coach, I was sitting at a corporate desk wondering why everyone else seemed content while I felt completely disconnected from the life I was living.
My mom would tell me,
“When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work.”
And I would roll my eyes!
I couldn’t imagine a job that didn’t leave me exhausted, counting down until the weekend, or feeling like my life revolved around work instead of actually living it.
At the time, I wasn’t looking for my purpose. I was just trying to survive Monday through Friday. But that quiet voice inside of me kept growing louder.
There has to be more than this.
Looking back now, that little voice was the beginning of everything. My intuition was starting to speak before I even understood the importance of allowing it to and following it!
The First Step Wasn’t Finding My Purpose
It was listening to that inner voice!
One of the biggest misconceptions about finding your purpose is believing you’ll suddenly wake up one morning with absolute clarity. That wasn’t my experience, nor have I ever seen anyone have this happen.
Your purpose is living within you somewhere, we just need to uncover it and bring it to the light. You don’t have to go out and find it per say, but you do need to shake things up.
This is as simple as paying attention to what makes you feel alive.
Instead of overthinking every opportunity, I began saying yes to things that genuinely sounded fun.
Dance classes.
Trips with friends.
Volunteer opportunities.
Yoga.
Personal growth books.
Anything that sparked curiosity instead of fear.
Every “yes” helped me learn a little more about myself and led me down a path I didn’t see coming, and that path led me right to my passion and purpose.
Healing Helped Me Hear My Own Voice
Around that same time, I started therapy after my apartment was burglarized. I went because fear had taken over my life and I didn’t want to live in the trauma of it all. Therapy led me to life coaching, and all of my healing and growth work led me home to myself.
As I healed, I became more confident making decisions based on what felt right for me instead of what I thought I should do. For the first time in my life, I was becoming the person underneath everyone else’s expectations. Living life for you instead of living life for other people changes everything for the better!
Sometimes Your Purpose Finds You While You’re Living
One volunteer opportunity through my sorority (Delta Gamma at TCU) changed the direction of my life. My favorite part of the experience was mentoring the college women.
I loved coaching them on how to operate the sorority, what they wanted from their time at TCU and what they saw for their futures. I could tell I was helping them to think differently and watching them discover confidence they didn’t know they had.
Around that same time, my therapist asked me a question that stopped me in my tracks.
“Have you ever thought about becoming a Life Coach?”
The answer came instantly. Not from my head, but from somewhere much deeper. From my authentic self, my intuition, my connection to God.
It felt like everything suddenly clicked into place.
Clarity Doesn’t Always Arrive All at Once
After that conversation, I met not one but two Life Coaches completely by chance. Each conversation confirmed what I already knew deep down.
I researched ICF-accredited coaching programs, found one that felt aligned, and enrolled. That decision completely changed my life.
Today, I genuinely understand what my mom meant all those years ago. I love what I do.
Helping people uncover who they are, trust themselves again, and create lives that actually feel like theirs doesn’t feel like work. It feels like purpose and my gosh it is SO fulfilling!
If You’re Feeling Stuck Right Now
I’ve been there. You don’t have to jump to the future or have your five year plan figured out. You don’t need to know your next career move, what comes next in your relationship or what you want out of your life to to start getting unstuck.
You just need enough clarity to take one honest next step.
If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or wondering what’s next, know this:
The answers you’re searching for are already inside of you. Sometimes you just need someone to help you uncover them.
That’s exactly what I help my coaching clients do every day.
If you’re ready to stop second guessing yourself and start creating a life that feels aligned with who you truly are, I’d love to help.
