My name is Ashley Shihab and I’m a high performer (cue everyone saying ‘Hi Ashley’).  That’s right, I need a support group for my high performing ways, and odds have it you do it.

That’s what’s funny about being a high performer – it’s often our best and our worst quality!  Two things can be true!  As a Dallas Life Coach I coach my clients on this all the time!  When we don’t properly harness our power, our best qualities often work to our detriment.

This is why burnout coaching is so sought after by high performers.  Imagine our high performing power being like a hose in the yard – if we turn it on full blast without harnessing it, the hose will spray everywhere.  What we need to learn is how to harness our power – we need to learn how to pick up the hose and direct it where we want it to go.

Executive burnout coaching, physician burnout coaching, entrepreneur burnout coaching and burnout recovery coaching are frequently inquired about in my complimentary consultations with new clients. And believe me, I understand, this is something I’ve had to work on too.

The reality is that as high performers, we get very excited about things, and excitement and anxiety walk a fine line in our nervous systems.  Take a moment and feel what it’s like to feel really anxious, and then take a moment and feel what it’s like to feel really excited.  Feels oddly similar right??  Our nervous systems tend to be operating on overdrive when we are high performers because our emotions get overly heightened.  Remember how I said that two things can be true at once?  Well, being overly excited or motivated can be a good and a bad thing!

As a burn out coach, something I see a lot is that high achievers don’t know when to shut off because we are so passionate about what we do so it’s always taking up space in our brains.  We’ll be cooking dinner, chatting with friends at dinner or drifting off to sleep when BAM!  The best idea we’ve ever had about our business or work flies into our brain and we have to harness it so we don’t lose it!  I know you feel me on this!

So how can a Life Coach for burnout help high performers?  Here are a few of the main themes I address with clients:

How To Harness Your Power – This goes back to that hose analogy! I teach my clients how to stop doing for the sake of doing and only take inspired action.  This feels like warm sun on a cold day to your nervous system and yields much more impressive results than the go-go-go you’re used to.

Redefining Self Worth – So many high performers equate their self worth with checking things off their to do list.  It’s easy to forget that we are worthy as we are, without the accomplishments.  This is usually a loaded area with expectations of others, past traumas and limiting beliefs we need to clean up.

Pacifying The Nervous System – I recently completed continuing education courses focusing on our nervous system, Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Therapy.  In layman’s terms, I learned a lot about what a delicate little flower our nervous system is and how it can easily be addicted to stress and chaos.  Anti burnout coaching focuses heavily on nervous system regulation, which as a high performer your body is probably screaming for right about now.

Manifest And Align Is The New Hustle And Grind – What I mean by this is that there are easier ways to be successful than hustling and doing the most.  Frankly, I want to do the least and be the most successful!  As a life coach in Dallas almost daily I am coaching clients on how to shift what they do and who they are to allow success to flow more easily to them.
